Vet-9 and Vet-10:
The New Standard in Veterinary Urine Analysis
For several years Sensor Health has been supplying Canadian veterinary offices with high quality vet products including our line of Vet-9 and Vet-10 Urine Analysis Strips, which are specifically designed for veterinary use. As our way of helping out offices who deal with purchasing groups, we have reached distribution agreements with Veterinary Purchasing, Mid West Vet and Western Drug Distribution (WDDC), and all orders can be made through any of those three companies. For those not involved with purchasing groups, direct pricing is available.
The most common question asked is "What is the difference between the Vet-9 and Vet-10?", and the answer simply is that the Vet-10 has one extra test associated with it which is the leukocyte test. When searching through your purchasing catalogues, you may wonder why these strips are so much cheaper than the competing human strips. The answer is simply that the mark up on the Vet strips is significantly lower. The quality of the product is as good as if not better than the commonly used Multistix and Chemstrips and the quantity remains at 100 strips per bottle.
Vet-9 and Vet-10 Urine Strips tests include:
- Nitrite
- Urobilinogen
- Ketone
- Bilirubine
- Protein
- Glucose
- Blood
- pH
- Specific Gravity
- Leukocytes *(Vet-10 only)

Sensor Health now has exclusive distributing rights within Canada to the RW2 Test! Never before has testing for Ring Worm been so easy, with many clinics sending test samples out to laboratories, this new test allows for in-house, quick result testing that truly is cost effective!
The RW2 Test can be done at room temperature, and the result time is anywhere from 3-5 days! At slightly over $3 per test, this allows clinics to satisfy their customers quickly while keeping their cost down at the same time!
The RW2 Test is a very simple to use, highly developed test that has two different culture media called the DTM (Dermatophyte Test Medium) and the ESA (Enhanced Sporulation Agar).
The DTM is preferred for early detection of Microsporum, Trichophyton, and Epidermophyton genera by means of colour change. Absence of a colour change indicates a lack of dermatophyte. The DTM will turn a red-brown upon positive detection.
The ESA is a highly selective medium for the detection of dermatophytes that turns a blue-green upon positive detection. It contains supplements that inhibit bacteria and some saprophytic fungi. The ESA is best used for the enhancement of both pigmentation and sporulation of dermatophytes, allowing for proper identification of fungal isolates.
